RIDING FOR YOUR SCHOOL IN A SCHOOLS CYCLING EVENT DOESNT AUTOMATICALLY ISSUE YOU WITH A 'SCHOOLS LICENCE'. Please read more below on our to obtain your 'Schools Cycling' to participate in other events or click here to register for a licence.
Schools Cycling riders have the opportunity again for 2022, to receive free of charge (Club fees may apply), a Cycling New Zealand Schools Licence which will enable them to access and participate in Road and Track Club activity across the country.
This is an exciting opportunity for our school riders to have the ability to access the Road and Track Club system and all the benefits that this provides.
Cycling Clubs in NZ are the grassroots of the sport and provide enormous benefit to members through regular club racing, additional opportunities to gain skills and experience and the ability to make wider connections in the sport. This is also contributing to our goal of having more riders continue to participate in the sport once they leave school. We believe that by providing this access while still at school will create a relationship with the club that will see the riders continuing club involvement post-school cycling.
How does this work?
Your school will be required to be affiliated with Cycling New Zealand schools for 2022 and name all riders at the time of affiliation (additional riders can be added throughout the year). These riders (Cycling New Zealand School Members) will then have the ability to register for a Cycling New Zealand Schools licence if they wish to participate in Road and Track club events outside of the schools system. At this time the schools rider will be asked to select their local club (please note that the selected club’s Youth membership fee will apply). Click here to purchase for a 2022 licence.
What does this mean?
This exciting opportunity now means that those school riders who register for a Schools licence will be able to attend Road and Track Club events throughout New Zealand and will be covered for third party liability under the Cycling New Zealand Insurance Policy.
Does every school rider get one?
This offer is available to all Cycling New Zealand School riders named on their school affiliation list but you will need to purchase a licence through the Cycling New Zealand membership system. This includes paying any associated club fees and providing additional details and agreement to the Cycling New Zealand Terms and Conditions and any parent/guardian approval as this activity takes place outside of the school environment.
Do I get a licence card?
Yes! All riders who register will receive a Cycling New Zealand licence card which will enable them to participate in their nominated Road and Track club level events.
