ŠKODA National School Road Championships

Update at 14 September:

Following on from our statement last week, and in response to the latest Covid-19 update, Cycling New Zealand Schools can now provide further updates on the 2021 SKODA National School Road Championships.

This event was scheduled to take place on 2-4 October in Timaru.

As our previous announcement indicated, with the latest Government update not moving the country into Alert Level 1 this week, we are regrettably cancelling the event.

The 2021 Skoda National School Road Championships will be held in Pleasant Point and Timaru from 2 - 4 October, run by Cycling New Zealand Schools and supported by Cycling South Canterbury.

Provisional Event Schedule

Friday 1 October - Race Pack Pick up - from 4.30pm - 6pm - St Joseph's School, Pleasant Point

Saturday 2 October - Team Time Trial - St Joseph's School, Pleasant Point

Sunday 3 October - Road Race - St Joseph's School, Pleasant Point

Monday 4 October - Points Race - Levels Raceway, Timaru

- Please do not arrive at St Joseph's School until 4.30pm on Friday 2 October. St Joseph's School have a full day of school so please respect their instructions and do not arrive prior to 4.30pm.

- There are no classrooms available to hire at St Joseph's School and no pit garage facilities at Levels Raceway, please bring tents and appropriate weights.

Individual Races:
U20, U17, U16, U15, U14, U13 boys and girls 


Teams Race: 
Senior (U20), Junior (U16) and Year 7 & 8

At a minimum competitors must be enrolled in Year 7.


Racing will be conducted under the Cycling New Zealand Schools Rules. All riders should familiars themselves with the complete Rules under which racing will be conducted.

Health and Safety
Everyone has a responsibly towards Health and Safety at an event.
The safety of the riders, officials, volunteer and spectators are included in the event planning. This includes (but not limited to) road restrictions, traffic management and event advisories to the local businesses and residents.
The event takes place a mix of urban residential and rural roads. It is your responsibility to manage your own safety during the event, to be aware of other road users at all times and to make responsible decisions. There is traffic management in place however, the roads are OPEN and there will be public and official traffic on the circuit during your race.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding Health and Safety please report to the Event Manager or Race Manager.

School Sport New Zealand

Entries are now open. Entries must be completed through your school only through Enter Now. No individual entries will be accepted. Schools must be affiliated with Cycling New Zealand Schools before they can enter.


Entry fees
Team Time Trial - $75 per team
Road Race - $45 per rider
Points Race - $45 per rider


Refund Policy

Refunds requested after the entry closing date will only be processed on the presentation of a medical certificate. All refunds will incur a $20 administration fee.
