Cycling New Zealand Schools Event Updates

Schools

Following on from our statement last week, and in response to the latest Covid-19 update, Cycling New Zealand Schools, along with our Event Organisers and School Sport NZ can now provide further updates on the remaining events.

National School MTB Championships

This event is scheduled to take place on 2 – 4 October in Wellington.

With the host region, returning to Alert Level 1 as of mid-night tonight, Cycling New Zealand Schools together with the host club PNP MTB club, are delighted to confirm this event will go ahead as planned however with some additional considerations.

Regrettably, earlier today, we contacted the registered Auckland Schools to advise them we will be withdrawing their entries from this event.   We acknowledge that this message will be met with disappointment and our thoughts are with these riders as their 2020 year continues to be disrupted.

As this condition is in place, we recognise that the event will not be nationally represented and as such the event will no longer be a National Championships and will be referred to as the School MTB Championships.

All remaining registered riders will be contacted regarding the additional protocols that will be in place to support the health response in Alert Level 1.

If you any additional questions regarding our plan to return to racing then please contact schools@cyclingnewzealand.nz.
