Cycling New Zealand Schools are excited to announce the 2023 Schools Cycling calendar in partnership with SKODA New Zealand.

2023 will offer 12 exciting Schools Cycling events for a full calendar of schools racing across Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, Road and Track.

First up, after the unfortunate cancellations in 2022, the schools mountain bike events will continue to support the growth in this popular code with the SKODA South Island MTB Championships heading to Queenstown, from 30 March – 1 April hosted by Coronet Peak with support from Queenstown MTB Club. Shortly following this is the SKODA North Island MTB Championship event in Rotorua, from 14 - 16 April hosted by Rotorua MTB Club. Later in the year, the SKODA National MTB Championships are heading south to Blenheim, from 4 – 7 October hosted by the Marlborough MTB Club who missed the chance to host the 2021 event due to Covid.

The SKODA North Island Road Championships will be held on 1 – 2 July in Cambridge and the SKODA South Island Roads is also on the same weekend in Christchurch, hosted by Canterbury Schools Cycling. The SKODA National Road Championships return to the Manawatu from 23 – 25 September.

SKODA North Island / National Track Championships will be in Cambridge from 4 – 5 July hosted by Cycling New Zealand, while the SKODA South Island Track Championship event is in Invercargill from 3 - 4 October hosted by Cycling Southland.

2023 will once again see two Cyclo Cross events on our schools calendar, after a successful launch of these events in 2021. The SKODA South Island Championship event will take place in Christchurch on 15 July, hosted by Southerncross CX. The provisional date for the SKODA North Island Championships is also 15 July, with the location and host club to be announced shortly.

Then the SKODA Southern Tour will be on 26 – 27 August hosted by Cycling Marlborough, with the SKODA Northern Tour on 2 - 3 September hosted by Cycling New Zealand. Covid-19 has unfortunately impacted both of these tours in the past two years, but this year’s events were both really successful so we can’t wait to see more riders taking part and building these events back up to full numbers.

We extend our thanks to SKODA New Zealand, all our host clubs and organisers and their volunteers who continue to support Schools Cycling to make all of these events possible.
