Cycling New Zealand Schools are excited to announce their 2021 calendar.

The introduction of Cyclo Cross (CX) to Schools Cycling is one of the highlights of the calendar which will offer 12 events across Road, Track, MTB and CX.

Well established and strongly supported CX clubs been awarded the inaugural CX events in 2021 with North Island CX hosted by Hutt Cross (24 July) and South Island CX by Southern Cross (24 July) in Hutt Valley and Christchurch respectively. These host clubs have a strong club racing calendar and the sanctioned school event will be supported by additional club racing opportunities to ensure riders can make the most of the opportunities available across the full weekend.

The Mountain Bike events continue to support the growth of cycling in Schools with the South Island MTB returning to Mt Hutt, hosted by Bike Methven (12 -14 March 2020) who successful held the event in 2019 with their 2020 event was one of the many events cancelled due to Covid-19. The recent announcement of the MTB Nationals heading to Blenheim (11 – 14 October) and hosted by Marlborough MTB Club have already proven a popular destination. An announcement around North Island MTB Champs announcement will be made in the coming weeks.

The North Island Roads, hosted by Red Events (10 -11 July) and South Island Roads, hosted by Canterbury Cycling  (10 -11 July) remain in the traditional venues of Cambridge and Christchurch with the National Roads heading to Timaru (2 – 4 October) where we once again expect strong south island representation.

North Island Track will combine with the National Track Championships in Cambridge (12 – 13 July) and the South Island Track will be held in Invercargill from 12 -13 October.

The Northern Tour hosted by Cycling New Zealand (4 – 5 September) and Southern Tour hosted by Cycling Marlborough (28 – 29 August) return multi-day tours to the calendar after also been impacted by Covid-19.

We extend our thanks to all our host clubs and organisers and their volunteers who continue to support Schools Cycling.
